Every year everyone says the next year will be better, greater. But it is total bullshit and everyone knows it. How can every year get better when there is an increment in tax. How can every year get better when NS is in this year and some people does'nt like it. How can it get any better each year if people are saying 2012 is the end of the world?!

Friends'o Friends

Dammit friends are so important!

Thats what u will say..
But really, how important are they?

Lets see how many friends you did not contact from your primary school.

And then lets see how many friends you did not contact from your secondary school.

I mean, even your then best of friends, how much do you contact with him/her?


So are they really important? Lets discuss.


I agree to a certain extent that friends are important. When you are bored and lonely at home, you will of course need them to entertain you. Such as going out for some shopping, soccer, movie or dinner. This is one of the reasons why friends are so important in every human's life. They are the source of entertainment and communication amongst human. Think about it, if you do not have any friends, what can you do when you are bored? It becomes very limited and mundane.

Next, they are the ones that will help you in your life. Not a big help, but at least some. Surely when you need $10,000 to repay your debt, they will give you $10 for chicken rice and say they are in crisis too. Thus they are pretty helpful in a small way, since everyone will have to need some help sometimes.

Thirdly, they can widen your social circle which will aid you in your future job or simply just for entertainment sake. Knowing more friends do help in your life as you will have a wider variety to choose from. Lets make an example. Today i feel like going to a club. But if all your friends are Otakus, it will be impossible that they go to a club with you. Vice in versa, if your friends are all clubbers, no one will go with you to buy some anime figurines. So friends can actually generate more friends with interest which is important because you will need a wider scope of varieties to choose from.

The above are why i think friends are important. Of course, there are other reasons why friends are important. But i would also like to point out why friends are not important as well. There are reasons why i think so.

I also disagree that friends are important because when you lose a friend, you will not feel much wrong. If someone was important to you, of course when they leave you, you will feel very sad. But for friends, this is not the case. Just as mentioned above at the starting passage, how many of your past friends have you contacted today? The answer could only be maximum 1% and minimum 0%. This is a fact although people always say friends are important and that they care for their friends. In the end, most of your past friends will slowly fade away and you will forget about them all. So to me, friends just come and go, there is nothing to be sad about because it is a mundane cycle. Therefore explaining why friends are not so important as they can just come and leave.

Overall i think friends are important in general and that people should try and make more friends.

A Random Stranger

Yesterday i was waiting for Ivan at Kovan MRT station to go for movie at Somerset. He was still at his hair cutting session when i reached the station, so i waited alone playing with my camera. Suddenly a girl came to me and ask me to lend her my phone.

She look alittle China-like.

But still, i lent her my phone although i was scared that it was a scam :X She used my phone and returned it to me. I thought she speaked very good english and she was pretty polite. After using my phone, she sat beside me and we started chatting.

I got to know that she is NOT a china girl, but a girl who everyone thought is from China but really is from Singapore (frowns). She was going to the airport soon but was waiting for her boyfriend at that moment. I also got to know that she has studied overseas for 1 year already. She said she miss the food here, carrot cake, fried oyster egg and all the oily stuffs lol. I think that it is an irony that when you were in Singapore, you don't think these food were special. But when you live overseas, you feel like you really want to eat those food. Pretty sad.

Anyway, the morale of the story is that people should always be friendly. Look at my example, i could have spent a miserable 30min time alone in the MRT station if i had not lent her my phone. Friendlyness pays =)

(But in the end i got "diao" by the boyfriend lol.)

A Day Out Alone

No this has nothing to do with the post at all. LOL. But its a freaking goddam "cant touch this" song. The song is called "Bohemian Rhapsody" by the band "Queen". An old song with a weird musical structure but its simply amazing and addictive. Try it today.

Oh well today's post is about me going out alone. Actually i had 2 pretty big events to go today but both of them will be held in some friend's house. Today i just felt like going out to town for some window shopping or simply just walk around. It has been quite a long time since i walked around in town area, like 2 weeks? So i just went alone since other people already have their plans and stuffs.

The first stop was Clarke Quay, since i heard theres this "Go Japan" Matsuri Event. I reached and bought 2 "pon" from the japanese bakery store at basement. There, i saw quite alot of cosplayers =) and theres this "Japanese Idol" competition going on! So dam cool but i did not dare to look at the cosplayers much as i did not wear my specs. Scare they will be like "wtf is this guy doing staring so hard at us?" But i see quite a lot of different cosplays this time, pretty good. Also i bought "Hokkaido Ice-cream" which is so nice, not too sweet and not too bland.

At 6.20pm i left and went to Doby God (my style), The Grand Cathay to watch some movie alone. Yes ALONE, watching movie ALONE OMG. Then the ticket was at 7.30pm, thus i had to wait 1hr before the show starts. So i went to Starbucks to get a drink. Spent my 1hr there chatting with the staff there and playing my NDS o_O. Watched "House Bunny" which was freaking good, do try it, its awesome and funny.

Well.. That was about it, in total, i spent $40, sweet jesus o_O. At first when Jeffrey told me he goes to the cinema alone to catch a movie, i thought he was like crazy. But now, its actually not bad since i am addicted to going out to town. Next week i shall do some shopping lol. Oh and yes, today i wore my slack combo (beanie, jacket, shirt, berms and slippers) and i realise my hair color looks alittle purple with the contrast of my black beanie. It actually looks pretty cool to me although people say purple is gay lol wtf.

Failure

The thing everyone fears..
I have realised that if we were to conquer our fear for failure, we can build success more than we could ever imagined.

Recently i have seen a video on youtube which shows Steve Job speaking to graduates. He said that he sees everyday as his last day in life, and there after ask himself what he really wants before he "dies". The fact that it was his "last day", he would not be afraid of any failures and thus achieving great success.

A simple description about failing to the way of success is when babies learn to walk. For them to walk, they must first learn to climb up when they fall. Eventually, they will be able to walk and then even run. The sad truth is that, as people grow older and older, they grow to fear failure more and more. Remember about the time when you were young and did not think about failing? Compared to now, you will be able to see it in yourself too.

Failure is the learning way to success. Without failure, there can be no success.
